Summer Programs

New Graduate Student Program
This is an introductory program for those students who have been accepted into the First Professional Masters Degree program. Beginning in late June and extending into early August, students are enrolled in several courses that provide for them an opportunity to build a strong foundation for study once the academic year begins. Course offerings include an Introduction to Design studio (this also incorporates a hand-based media course into the studio), a Digital Media course, and an Introduction to the Literature of Landscape Architecture course. Several field trips are also incorporated into the summer as a way of introducing students to the stunningly beautiful landscapes of Oregon.

Kyoto Summer Program
This five week program takes students to the city of Kyoto, Japan where they study many of the important and historic gardens of this ancient city, including Ryoan-ji and Rokuon-ji (more commonly known as Kinkaku-ji). Students live in a 500 year old Buddhist temple, and perform design studio work for real-world clients such as the Kyoto Parks Department and others. Sketching, painting, and field recording techniques are also taught. To go to the Kyoto webpage, click here.
