New A&AA building news available on blog

The A&AA community continues to take steps toward creating its future home on University Street.  The location of the Phase I A&AA building is on the site of the current McArthur Court. To help keep interested constituents and stakeholders informed, a blog has been created to follow the progress of the “Phase I A&AA Learning and Innovation Hub” capital project. Here you can view documents and design studies that outline the design process, including reports, timeline, and correspondence.

Recruitment Fair brings together 23 firms, 250 students

Twenty-three firms looking to hire A&AA graduates participated in the three-day 2015 Recruitment Fair sponsored by the Office of Professional Outreach and Development for Students (PODS) in Lawrence Hall recently. Recruiters concluded the event by holding interviews with more than forty students. “We anticipate many students landed jobs and summer internships,” said Kassia Dellabough, director of PODS.

2015 Helphand lecturer: John Dixon Hunt

Landscape historian John Dixon Hunt will deliver the Kenneth I. Helphand Endowed Lecture in Landscape Architecture on Thursday, February 19, at 6 p.m. in Lawrence Hall Room 177, 1190 Franklin Boulevard in Eugene. A reception at 5:30 p.m. precedes the lecture. The event is free and open to the public.

Thoren’s new book among top 10 in 2014

Climate change, population shifts, and many other factors have changed the demands we place on landscape designs. Projects now have to absorb stormwater, cool urban centers, connect neighborhoods, and provide wildlife habitat.  A new book by UO landscape architecture Associate Professor Roxi Thoren examines how these challenges drive the design process, inspire new design strategies, and result in innovative works in the field of landscape architecture.

Landscape architecture PhD candidate wins $84,000 EPA fellowship

Gwynne Mhuireach, a PhD candidate in landscape architecture at UO, has been awarded an $84,000 two-year grant to pursue an interdisciplinary research project drawing from microbial ecology, urban design, and landscape epidemiology.

Majors Fair showcases all A&AA offerings

The annual A&AA Majors Fair is scheduled this year for Thursday, October 23, from 4-6 p.m. in Lawrence Hall. The event offers a relaxed atmosphere where all undecided, “redeciding” and exploring students can speak personally with faculty members, professional advisers, and student representatives from A&AA.

A&AA celebrates its 100th anniversary

Join the celebration with a 100th Birthday party on Friday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the south entrance of Lawrence Hall.  There will be a birthday cake and all-school photo shoot. Be a part of the historic moment. Then, spend the afternoon in Lawrence Hall during the open house to visit the special exhibitions in the A&AA Library, LaVerne Krause Gallery, classrooms, and studios. See work by architecture, art, product design, landscape architecture, planning, public policy and management, and historic preservation on the second floor of Lawrence Hall.
